It had been my intention to tell a tale, a narration, but one with no textual references; a pure sound story. It is my hope that this introduction will not burden the listener with crude textual symbols and restrict her/his responses to the sounds herein.
The title is a French child's phrase for twilight, translated from, Entre Chien Et Loup. The formal structures used to guide the music were largely from loose readings of Joseph Campbell's Power of Myth and an aural acknowledgment to Luis Bunel's film, The Andalusian Dog as the title.
In response to the various sonic scenarios being built, section titles changed mercurily from processes of neurological pathbuilding, to the dance of bees reporting distant nectar. I feel this additional text could keep the music from striking closer to the spirit for which it was intended. Therefore, for words, I leave the title. For the specifics within the piece, I urge listeners to find stories from their own pasts, futures or private twilights. Conversely, a more detailed synopsis is available.
The deus ex machina for this piece, and the source of the samples is
a bright red mountain bike.
